Core support to help Swayam reduce gender-based violence

Since 1997, Mission inclusion has been supporting Swayam, an organization dedicated to promoting the rights of women and children and ending violence.

Partner: Swayam

Country: India

Swayam believes that to create a world without violence it is essential to empower women to take control of their lives, to challenge the social norms that drive violence, and to work in solidarity with civil society.

In 2013, with co-funding from the Oak Foundation, Mission inclusion made a three-year commitment to provide core support to Swayam for all its programs and activities. The ultimate goal of the project is to contribute to reducing violence against women and girls in West Bengal, India, by focusing on protection, services, advocacy and awareness-raising, while seeking to influence changes in policy and legislation concerning gender-based violence and women’s rights at the national level.

Mission inclusion also made a commitment to help build Swayam’s institutional capacity, provide services, support and monitor their interventions and work towards sustainable development in order to contribute to reducing gender-based violence.
