Homelessness in quebec

You have the power to give a young person what everyone needs to move forward in life: a home, a sense of direction, and someone who believes in them.

Growing up without a safety net

Blowing out the candles on your 18th birthday… and finding yourself the next day without housing, income, or anyone to take you in. For too many young people leaving the child protection system, this is the face of youth homelessness in Quebec.

Every year, approximately 2,000 of them reach adulthood without a social safety net. According to a 2022 study, 33% will experience at least one episode of homelessness before age 21. (EDJeP, Martin Goyette, ENAP)

“On my 18th birthday, the youth centre said goodbye. No direction, no housing, no money. Two weeks later, I was on the street…”

— Vincent, a former youth in care, now a community outreach worker

Your presence changes everything

Government grants don’t cover everything. What you make possible is what happens in the space between institutional services and the reality of a young person left to fend for themselves: help paying rent, buying food, accessing healthcare, finding clothes, getting medication. These are fundamental needs — and when they go unmet, they can derail an entire life.

Committed to social justice

Mission inclusion does more than fund programs in Quebec. It acts where public services stop by supporting organizations like the Fondation Ancrage Jeunesse and its program Envol vers l’autonomie — hands-on support for young people leaving the youth protection system toward stable housing — while also influencing the practices and policies that determine who falls through the cracks, and who has a safety net beneath them.

Supporting Mission inclusion means choosing both: concrete help now, and a more just society tomorrow.

Hear it from them

You don’t need to be a frontline worker to change a life. Your donation makes Vincent’s presence possible. It’s the act of someone who refuses to look away.

“It allowed me to breathe a little through everything I was dealing with.”

— Emergency fund recipient, Envol vers l’autonomie, age 19

“It allowed me to furnish my apartment and build a living space I can finally call home.”

— Emergency fund recipient, Envol vers l’autonomie, age 18

“I want to build a strong bond of trust with young people. Help them understand that they matter, that they’re worth it. To spark something in them.”

— Vincent Deslandes, community outreach worker, Fondation Ancrage Jeunesse
