For over 75 years, Mission IInclusion has embodied commitment to international solidarity through its unwavering support for its partners and determination to build a just, inclusive, and equitable world. Our organization transforms international solidarity into concrete actions that empower women, defend human rights, and increase the resilience of vulnerable communities in the face of climate change.

In the run-up to the elections, we must collectively ask ourselves: what kind of world do we want for tomorrow? What place does international solidarity occupy in our collective identity?

At the crossroads

At a time when some countries are turning in on themselves, our national identity, indissociable from its heritage of solidarity, is being called into question. By supporting democracy, human rights and climate action, we are building a world where everyone can flourish, exercise their rights and participate fully in a sustainable society.

At Mission inclusion, we firmly believe that Canada must maintain its commitment to international aid as it has always done, as an investment in our security and future.

International solidarity makes us collectively stronger. Today, more than ever, we can take concrete action to support communities in vulnerable situations by bringing a distinct and independent voice to the world stage. In the face of those who wish to impose their vision, our strength lies in our unity around fundamental values: inclusion, equity and social justice for all.

Tangible results that transform lives

Behind the budget debates and statistics lie moving human realities. In East and Southern Africa, our ReSea project enables coastal communities to protect their marine ecosystems while developing sustainable livelihoods. In Burkina Faso, our partners support women-led agroecology initiatives, strengthening their economic and food autonomy. In Bolivia, we have supported women in their fight for access to appropriate healthcare. In Haiti, despite security challenges, our partners continue to provide essential health services to the population, particularly young women.

These successes are no accident. They result from an approach that places communities at the heart of solutions and respects their dignity and autonomy. Above all, they testify to the expertise of our local partners and the Canadian and Québec know-how in international cooperation, recognized worldwide and patiently built up over decades.

An investment, not an expense

Contrary to some perceptions, international aid is not a simple expense that can be cut at the whim of political winds. It is a strategic investment in a stable, just and sustainable world from which we all reap the benefits.

In a global context marked by climate crises, forced displacement and growing inequalities, diminishing our commitment would not only be contrary to our values but also to our long-term interests.

Every dollar invested in sustainable development abroad contributes to our collective security, economic prosperity and positive influence on the world stage.

A call to action:

Today, we are launching a campaign to defend the maintenance and progressive increase of the international solidarity budget. We invite our partners, donors and those sensitive to these issues to add their voices to ours.

Please learn more about the issues, talk to your friends and family, and ask your candidates about their commitment to international solidarity. Share the inspiring stories of change we’ll broadcast over the coming weeks. Let’s show that our society remains committed to the fundamental values that define us.

As we make our choices, let’s remember this essential truth: in an interdependent world, no one is safe until everyone is safe. Solidarity is an absolute necessity for our shared future.
