A Successful First Call for Projects

The launch of the ACTION Fund in Benin follows a first call for projects that also targeted organizations in Bolivia. This approach demonstrates Mission inclusion’s commitment to supporting local initiatives in different contexts.

Ms. Évelyne Dabiré, Head of Cooperation and Chargée d’Affaires for the Canadian Embassy in Benin, guest of honour at the event, highlighted the importance of such initiatives:

This type of project strengthens the ties between Canada and Benin while contributing to sustainable and inclusive development that directly benefits local communities.

Geneviève Gauthier, Senior Director of International Programming at Mission inclusion, explains:

The selected projects embody the innovation and community engagement we seek to support. They reflect our holistic approach to development, recognizing that true inclusion requires changes at multiple levels of society.

Concrete Projects for Real Impact

Four Beninese organizations have been chosen to lead transformative projects under the ACTION Fund. Here’s an overview:

CREDEL ONG

CREDEL’s project aims to improve people with disabilities access to and use of socio-community and educational spaces in the communes of Glazoué and Zê. The goal is to integrate their needs into the Municipal Development Plans and improve their leadership and civic participation.

Association Tikonna

Tikonna’s project, “Tiwɛ̃nna≠ActWithThem,” is located in Boukombé and Cobly. It aims to strengthen the integration and economic empowerment of women, young girls, and other marginalized groups in Gender-Sensitive Planning and Budgeting. It will mobilize more than 2,300 actors to participate in discussion panels and budget analyses.

BC-ONG

The La Boussole de la Cité (BC-ONG) project is located in Sô-Ava and aims to improve the governance and productivity of the Communal Union of Producers, which has about 2,000 members. It compensates for the lack of management skills through specialized training in the production, conservation, and processing of agricultural, fishery, and livestock products.

Women Impact Network (WIN)

WIN’s Yeba OPPECI project aims to emancipate 200 women in the Mono Biosphere Reserve economically. It focuses on training in agroecology and social economy for rural women, including women with disabilities, ethnically marginalized women, or victims of violence.

A Commitment to the Future

Launching the ACTION Fund is essential in Mission inclusion’s commitment to Benin. This initiative reinforces our vision of inclusive and sustainable development, where every voice counts, and every action contributes to building an equitable society.
By supporting these innovative local initiatives, the ACTION Fund contributes to creating a society where every individual, regardless of gender, origin, or condition, can fully participate in the life of their community.
