The “Intergenerational Climate Resilience in Mandoul” (ICRM) project will be implemented from 2024 to 2027 by Mission inclusion and its local partner LEAD Chad. The project is financially supported by the Ministry of Environment and the Fight Against Climate Change (MEFCC) through its International Climate Cooperation Program (ICCP) and by Mission Inclusion donors.<\/p>\n

The ICRM aims to strengthen the resilience of 960 women farmers<\/strong> from 12 communities<\/strong> to the impacts of climate change. Indeed, droughts and floods are severely affecting the livelihoods of Chadian families.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\ud83e\uddd1\u200d\ud83c\udf3e<\/strong> Committed and Resilient Farmers<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Through this project, women producers will be able to acquire new knowledge such as climate-adapted agroecological practices or business techniques. They will also benefit from dialogue spaces<\/strong> to share their concerns and influence local decisions.<\/p>\n

The project will focus on women’s leadership and the intergenerational transmission of traditional knowledge to make communities more supportive and resilient.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\ud83c\udf31<\/strong> Adapted Agroecological Practices<\/strong><\/h4>\n

In farm schools<\/strong>, women producers will experiment with new environmentally friendly agricultural practices adapted to droughts or floods. These innovative techniques will be developed by the Chadian Institute of Agronomic Research in partnership with a Quebec university.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\ud83d\udc9a<\/strong> Entrepreneurship for Stable Income<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The project will also encourage women’s entrepreneurship in processing and marketing local products. Income-generating activities<\/strong> will enable women to better provide for the needs of their families, even during times of climate crisis.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\ud83d\udde3\ufe0f<\/strong> Feminist Leadership for Change<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Through workshops and awareness campaigns, participants will be able to develop their leadership to defend the rights of women farmers. They will make their concerns heard by local and national decision-makers in order to influence climate change adaptation policies<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Created in 2005, LEAD Chad is an organization that puts the skills of young Chadian men and women at the service of the sustainable development of their country. LEAD helps reduce community vulnerability to climate change and promotes gender equality.<\/p>\n
